THIS IS RELEVANT TO CA2020 (TC, TPS AND TPE ONLY).
Proctorio is the remote invigilation software used by ICAS. The software uses your computer’s webcam and microphone to record you, as well as your computer’s screensharing capability to record your computer activity during the assessment.
ICAS requires the use of Proctorio so that we can validate your assessment result whilst maintaining the integrity of the assessment paper, assessment process and mark ratification.
Failure to ensure that you use Proctorio will result in you being subject to investigation and sanctions under the ICAS examination regulations and academic integrity policy.
Proctorio works by asking you to share your webcam, microphone, and screen with the system. As you are required to share your screen with ProctorExam, you are only permitted to use one screen during your assessment. For clarification on the stipulations around the one device/screen rule, please read the General Assessment FAQs.
Proctorio System Checks:
You will receive one system check email per assessment (sent to your ICAS Student email account) several days in advance of your invigilated assessments to allow you to install Proctorio and to check that your device/internet meets all of the IT and system requirements. Please ensure that system checks are completed on the same device you intend to use when sitting the assessment.
You must complete these system checks either as soon as you receive them or no later than 48 hours in advance of the assessment. Failure to complete these checks may mean that you are not able to sit the assessment.
Once the system checks are complete, you will receive an email to your ICAS Student email account containing a link to the Proctorio invigilation session for your assessment. Use this email to activate Proctorio on the day of the exam and begin the Proctorio set-up process.
System Check Notes:
- During busy periods, the Proctorio software may not respond as quickly as desired - please be patient. However, if after three minutes the software remains unresponsive, please close the browser, and click on the email link again. You should continue this until you are set up and ready to press ‘start exam’.
- If after three attempts you are still unsuccessful, you should contact your designated assessment support at ICAS, who will set you up to be recorded on Teams instead. Any absence of assessment footage may result in your attempt being voided by the TPS assessment panel.
- Please make sure the Proctorio software is still operational the day before the assessment in case any updates have been made to your laptop.
- Please ensure that you shut down your laptop overnight ahead of your assessments. This will allow your laptop to install any updates overnight.
