An internal reference (client name, client code etc) must be provided for each competency achieved.
This should link back to a piece of work carried out and provide evidence of your achievement.
In addition, the Professional Oversight Board (POB), the ICAS regulator, can request to review an Achievement Log at any time and the internal references documented must direct ICAS or POB to documentary evidence of how the competencies recorded have been achieved.
References should be:
a) Technical competencies:
A single, specific piece of client work, referenced by client name or code.
b) Non-technical competencies:
A single, specific piece of client work or a reference to a specific appraisal.
For soft skill competencies: communication and influencing, people, teamwork and leadership and personal effectiveness as well as Information Technology (prescribed competencies only), you may use the word "appraisal" as the internal reference but please provide any internal reference if your appraisal is recorded in a system, such as a Learning Management System.
In this case, please enter the date achieved as the appraisal date.
Please note, however, that we would not expect a large number of competencies to be referenced to ‘appraisal’.
Please note that any other references used, unless otherwise separately agreed with ICAS, will not be accepted.
There is separate guidance for TOPPs students which can be found on icas.com.
