Before the assessment starts, you will have time to show to the camera your 5 blank pieces of A4 paper (front and back), pens and any permitted hard copy materials, such as the IFRS Accounting standards. You can also bring water in a clear container or bottle with a lid, which must be shown to the camera.
If you have a textbook, you will need to flick through the pages at a reasonable speed and show that there are no loose pieces of paper or annotations in the textbook.
You must show photographic ID and conduct a complete a 180° horizontal scan of the environment in which you are sitting the assessment as part of the assessment set-up.
Failure to complete this scan fully will be reported to ICAS and it will be flagged as a potential breach of regulations.
The room scan should be carried out as follows:
- The scan should be done slowly and as smoothly as possible – the invigilation software and ICAS require sufficient time to validate the scan.
- For all assessments you must complete a 180° horizontal scan of your assessment environment including desk area.
- Complete this scan by panning the webcam or laptop around your room/desk (you do not have to scan under your desk).
- Be sure to move the webcam or laptop slowly to clearly capture your room and desk area.
- If you are unable to move your camera (if it is built into PC) please use a mirror to conduct the scan
If the room scan is too quick or not clear enough the first-time round, then the invigilation software may ask you to complete it again. Please follow all instructions given to you regarding the room scan.
